Kemudian Rasulullah SAW ikut duduk dan meletakkan kepalanya di pangkuan Aisyah. Tak berapa lama kemudian Rasulullah SAW pun tidur terlentang. Pada saat itu Aisyah ra menemukan uban yang ada di jenggot Rasulullah SAW dan melihat 19 helai rambut yang memutih.

Maka Aisyah pun menangis sampai air matanya jatuh menetes di wajah Rasulullah SAW sampai akhirnya ia pun terbangun dari tidurnya.

“Wahai ummul mukminin, apa yang membuatmu menangis?” tutur Rasulullah SAW.

Maka Aisyah ra menceritakan apa yang ia rasakan setelah melihat uban-uban Rasulullah SAW tersebut.

“Tahukah kamu, kondisi apakah yang paling menyusahkan bagi mayit?” Kata Rasulullah SAW.

“Tidak ada kondisi yang paling menyusahkan atas diri mayit dari saat keluar dari rumahnya, anak-anak yang ditinggalkan berada di belakangnya, serta menangisinya,” kata Aisyah.

“Itu memang menyakitkan, tapi masih ada lagi yang jalan pedih dari itu,” sahut Rasulullah SAW.

“Tidak ada kondisi yang lebih berat atas diri mayit dari saat dia dimasukkan dalam liang lahat dan dikubur di bawah tanah, para kerabat, anak dan istrinya meninggalkannya pulang. Setelah itu datanglah Malaikat Munkar dan Nakir dalam kuburnya,” ujar Aisyah lagi.

Rasulullah SAW tersenyum mendengar penuturan itu. Setelah itu beliau menjelaskan kepada bahwa sesungguhnya saat yang paling berat bagi mayit adalah ketika datangnya ‘Tukang Memandikan Mayit’.

Mereka mengeluarkan cincin dari jari-jari orang yang mati tersebut, melepaskan pakaiannya kemudian memandikannya. Ketika itu, ruhnya memanggil saat melihat jasadnya telanjang dengan suara yang dapat didengar oleh seluruh makhluk kecuali jin dan manusia.

“Apa yang diserukan oleh ruh itu ya Rasulullah?” tanya Aisyah.

“Hai tukang memandikan, demi Allah aku memohon kepadamu agar engkau melucutkan pakaianku dengan pelahan, karena sesungguhnya saat ini aku sedang istirahat dari sakitnya pencabutan nyawa dari Malaikat Maut,” begitu ungkap Rasulullah SAW.

“Lalu apa yang diserukan lagi oleh ruh?” tanya Aisyah lagi.

“Hai tukang memandikan, demi Allah jangan engkau tuangkan air panas, jangan engkau gunakan air panas dan jangan pula air dingin, sesungguhnya jasadku telah terbakar sebab dicabutnya nyawaku,” kata Rasulullah SAW.

“Lalu ketika dimandikan, apa yang diserukan oleh ruh itu …?” tanya Aisyah ra lagi.

Dan ketika dimandikan, ruh itu berkata,

“Demi Allah, hai tukang memandikan, janganlah engkau pegang diriku terlalu kuat, sesungguhnya jasadku masih terluka karena keluarnya nyawa,” tutur Rasulullah SAW.

Astaghfirullah. Semoga kita diberi wafat dalam keadaan Khusnul Khatimah.
